Our solution is to set posts below the frost line (about 36 inches) using concrete for stability, and we always weatherproof wood with a quality stain or sealant. For existing damaged posts, we can replace them and reinforce the surrounding area to prevent future movement.

Look for peeling paint or stain, visible rot or splintering, loose or rusted hardware, and leaning or wobbly posts. After a wet winter or spring, you might also notice mold or mildew.
