The heavy rainfall and freeze-thaw cycles in our mountain area can cause wood posts to rot at the ground line and concrete footings to heave. At A&H Fence, we use pressure-treated wood and set posts with proper drainage gravel to combat moisture. For existing leaning posts, we can reset them or install galvanized steel post supports for long-term stability.

A dragging gate is usually caused by sagging hinges, a bent frame, or posts that have shifted over time. In Old Fort, wet soil can also cause posts to settle. We assess the entire gate assembly, tighten or replace hinges, reinforce the frame, and if needed, adjust the post or install a wheel kit to keep the gate swinging freely.

A stepped or racked fence is ideal for sloped properties. We custom-build panels to follow the grade, avoiding unsightly gaps underneath. For privacy, a board-on-board design works well, and for smaller slopes, we can 'rack' the pickets to match the angle. This keeps your fence looking clean and functional without wasting space.
