Look for visible signs like gates that drag or no longer latch properly, gaps between fence panels, or posts that are noticeably out of plumb. If you see cracking in the wood or vinyl near the ground line, that's another indicator. A simple test is to push gently on a post—if it moves more than an inch, the soil has compromised its stability.

First, we assess whether the gate post has shifted or if the gate itself has warped. Often, the solution involves re-setting the post deeper with proper drainage gravel to combat soil movement.
