We solve this by setting our posts much deeper than the frost line—typically 24 to 30 inches—and using a larger diameter of concrete. This 'bell-bottom' footing prevents the posts from shifting, keeping your fence straight for years.

Yes, a dragging gate is often the first sign of a sinking or leaning post. In Cordova’s climate, the soil moisture changes constantly, which can cause the post supporting the gate to settle. If left unchecked, it can stress the hinges and the entire fence panel. We recommend having a professional assess the post. Often, we can re-set the post and adjust the gate, saving you from needing a full replacement.

For our local humidity and rain, we highly recommend vinyl or aluminum fencing. Vinyl won't rot, warp, or need repainting, making it ideal for wet winters.
