The primary cause is soil movement. Lake Dallas has expansive clay soils that swell when wet and shrink during dry spells. This constant shifting can loosen the ground around fence posts, causing them to lean or sink. High winds also apply lateral force, accelerating the instability if posts aren't set deep enough or without proper concrete footings.

Look for gaps between pickets, loose or missing screws, and sagging gate hinges. After a strong wind event, check if panels are bowed or if the fence line appears wavy.
