Look for leaning sections, cracks or rot on wooden pickets, loose or rusted hardware, and gates that drag or won't latch. After a heavy winter, check for frost heave pushing posts upward. If more than 30% of the fence is damaged, replacement is often more cost-effective than repairs.

We first assess the extent of damage. For minor leaning, we can often re-set posts in gravel-filled holes to improve drainage. For severe damage, we replace posts with longer, galvanized posts set below the frost line in concrete. We also recommend using rot-resistant cedar or composite materials to prevent future problems.
