Fence posts erode primarily due to moisture trapped at the base, exacerbated by the area's high clay content soil which expands and contracts. Improper drainage, lack of gravel, or pressure-treated wood contact with soil can accelerate rot and rust in metal posts.

Look for leaning sections, cracked or splintered wood, rusted hardware, loose nails or screws, and gaps between boards. Posts that wobble when pushed or show rot at ground level indicate the fence is nearing the end of its life.

We remove the damaged post, dig out the old footing, and set a new post with concrete and gravel for drainage. For metal posts, we use rust-resistant coatings. We also recommend installing moisture barriers and grading soil away from the fence line.
