Gate sagging is usually caused by loose hinges, a settling post, or the weight of the gate pulling the frame out of square. Over time, our heavy gates and changing soil conditions can make it worse. We fix it by reinforcing the post with concrete, replacing worn hinges with heavy-duty models, and adding a wheel or anti-sag kit to take the weight off the frame.

High winds can loosen fence posts in our clay soil, snap pickets, or cause entire sections to lean or blow over. Look for posts that wobble, gaps between pickets and rails, or a fence that no longer lines up straight. After a storm, check for loose nails and uneven gaps. We can reinforce the structure with deeper-set posts and stronger rail attachments.

A wind-resistant fence starts with proper installation. We set posts at least 24 inches deep in concrete and use galvanized hardware. For high-wind areas, installing a fence with gaps between pickets (board-on-board or shadowbox) allows wind to pass through instead of pushing the whole fence over. We also recommend steel or heavy-gauge aluminum framing for gates to prevent sagging.
