About the Company

Progressive Iron Works has been a fixture in the Slidell community since moving here in 1980. Founded in 1948 by the current owner at age 18, the business began inside his father's lumber yard before operating on Magazine Street in New Orleans. For over seven decades, the company has designed and manufactured ornamental staircases, fences, gates, and balconies for French Quarter and Uptown properties, as well as for commercial buildings, restaurants, and apartment complexes throughout the region. Now based in a dedicated manufacturing facility in Slidell, the shop’s skilled artisans hand-bend wrought iron using traditional scrollwork techniques. The team handles design, plan drawing, fabrication, and installation of custom pieces—including decks, railings, manual and automatic gates, along with repairs, painting, staining, and weatherproofing. Their motto remains: 'If you can draw it, we can build it.' Licensed and fully insured, the company’s work has appeared in magazines and can be seen locally and across the U.S. and Europe.
