Our Story

David James Dougherty founded Shep Hardscape Services in Centerville, MA, in 2016 after seven years as landscape construction manager at Sorbello Landscaping Inc. There, he handled planning, overseeing, and installation of all hardscapes. Recognizing his potential to build a company on his own, he launched Shep Hardscape Services with a mission to improve homeowners' outdoor experiences across Cape Cod. His team specializes in masonry, concrete work, and fence installation and repair. Services include cobblestone edging and aprons, pressure-treated 6x6 retaining walls (also in cedar), patio and walkway installation and repair using concrete pavers, bricks, thermal blue-stone, irregular blue-stone, and flagging. They also install stone steps in stanstead granite, caledonian granite, or prefabricated concrete, plus fire pits, prefabricated stonewalls, farmers walls, gravel/shell driveway installation and refurbishing, general masonry repair, and paver sealing in natural, wet, or high gloss finishes. David's hands-on experience ensures every project meets high standards, exceeding client expectations from start to finish.

Common Questions

What types of fences do you install and repair in Centerville?

We install and repair split-rail and stockade fences. These are popular choices for local properties. Our team handles everything from new installations to fixing storm-damaged sections, ensuring your fence is both functional and attractive.

I have a cracked concrete patio near Craigville Beach. Can you repair it?

Yes, we offer patio repair services for all types of stone, including concrete pavers, bricks, and blue-stone. If you live near Craigville Beach in Centerville, we can assess the damage, replace cracked stones, and re-level the surface to restore your outdoor space.

How do you handle common fencing problems like rot or leaning posts in Centerville's coastal climate?

Centerville's coastal environment can cause wooden fences to rot or lean over time. We address this by using pressure-treated or cedar materials that resist moisture. For repairs, we replace damaged posts and reinforce the structure to prevent future shifting, especially in sandy soil near areas like the Centerville River.
