The most common signs include visible rot or decay at the base of posts, panels that wobble or pull away from the frame, and gates that sag or drag on the ground. You might also notice cracked or split boards, rusted nails or screws, and leaning sections. If you see these issues, it’s best to address them quickly to prevent further damage or safety hazards.

Loose fence panels are often caused by moisture and humidity from Trinity’s humid subtropical climate, which can rot wooden posts and weaken fasteners. Soil shifting, especially after heavy rains, can also loosen posts. Additionally, age and exposure to the sun cause wood to shrink and crack, while wind and storms can stress the connections between panels.

In most cases, we can repair individual loose panels without replacing the entire fence. We assess the condition of the posts, rails, and hardware first. If the posts are still solid and the rot is limited, we can re-secure or replace only the damaged panels. A full replacement is only recommended if the majority of the fence is unstable or severely rotted.
