Questions and Answers
What causes fence post instability after Orlando storms?
Most fence post problems in Orlando come from two things: sandy, loose soil that doesn't hold the post firmly, and moisture rot at the base. When heavy winds push against the fence, a posts with rotted wood or a shallow set gives way. It’s common in older fences where the posts were set without concrete or a proper gravel base.
How do I know if my broken gate hinge needs a carpenter or just a quick fix?
If the gate is sagging and the screw holes are stripped or the wood around the hinges is cracked or rotted, a simple screw swap won’t hold. That’s a carpenter job. We’ll reinforce the frame, replace the damaged wood, and install new hinges that actually match the weight of your gate. If the hinge itself is just loose and the wood is sound, tightening the screws might do it.
What’s the best solution for a fence that won’t stay straight after storms?
For fences that lean after heavy weather, the best long-term fix is to reset the unstable posts. We dig them out, install a new post set in concrete below the frost line (for our area, that’s usually 18–24 inches deep), and use pressure-treated wood rated for ground contact. If multiple posts are bad, sometimes it’s more cost-effective to replace an entire section. We’ll inspect the whole run and give you options.
